How Payment On Delivery Works

QrX Payment On Delivery (PoD) replaces traditional cash at the door with a fast, secure digital payment flow. Here's exactly how it works, step by step.

The 4-Step Process

Step 1: Shipment Created
When a merchant creates a shipment (or it's imported automatically from Shopify, WooCommerce, or via API), QrX generates a unique payment link and QR code tied to that specific delivery.

Step 2: QR Code Presented
The delivery driver arrives at the customer's door and presents the QR code. This can be displayed on the driver's handheld terminal, printed on the package label, or shown on the driver's phone.

Step 3: Customer Pays
The customer scans the QR code with their smartphone camera — no app installation required. A secure payment page opens in their mobile browser where they choose their preferred payment method (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, iDEAL, Bancontact, etc.) and complete the payment.

Step 4: Instant Confirmation
Payment is confirmed in real time — typically under 3 seconds. Both the customer and driver receive instant notification. The driver's terminal updates automatically, and the package is handed over.

What Problem Does This Solve?

Traditional Cash on Delivery creates serious problems:

  • Security risks — drivers carrying large amounts of cash

  • Failed deliveries — customers don't have exact change

  • Manual reconciliation — counting and depositing cash is time-consuming and error-prone

  • Delayed settlements — cash needs physical collection before merchants get paid

  • No visibility — no real-time status of what's been collected

QrX eliminates all of these issues. Payments are digital, instant, and fully tracked in a live dashboard.

Key Benefits

  • Zero cash handling — completely eliminate cash from delivery operations

  • Complete visibility — real-time dashboard showing every delivery and payment status

  • Faster settlement — digital payments settle directly to the merchant's bank account

  • Higher success rate — customers pay with their preferred method, no more "I don't have cash" failures

  • No hardware needed — customers use their own smartphone, no payment terminal required

  • No app required — the payment page works in any mobile browser

For Drivers

Drivers benefit from instant payment confirmations, digital receipts, and clear status indicators on their terminals. No more carrying cash, no more disputes about amounts, no more wasted trips.

For Merchants

Merchants get a live dashboard to track every payment, driver, and delivery in real time. Settlements are faster, conversion rates are higher, and operational costs drop significantly.
